Case Discussion

The dense lobar consolidation at admission shows some initial aeration at 1 week, but little in the way of radiological resolution, despite symptomatic improvement. At 5 weeks, there is almost complete resolution of consolidation.

Sputum culture confirmed Streptococcus pneumoniae with the diagnosis of pneumococcal pneumonia.
