Multiple gas locules within the lumbar spinal canal. No paraspinal abscess. There are multilevel vertebral marginal osteophytic outgrowths and intradiscal air.
Case Discussion
Pneumorrhachis is a condition defined by the presence of intraspinal air. Etiologies include epidural infection with gas-producing organisms, spinal surgery or air introduction via lumbar puncture. Relatively rare, the presence of epidural gas in the degenerative spine has been reported in a few cases of literature, secondary to vacuum phenomenon.
