Pontine hemorrhage

Presentation

Acute onset right-sided weakness with altered conscious state.

Patient Data

Age: 38
Gender: Male
ct

Acute left pontine hemorrhage. No mass effect at present. Grey-white differentiation is preserved. Ventricular size, sulcal pattern and basal cisterns all appear normal. No hydrocephalus. No bony abnormality demonstrated.

Case Discussion

The etiology in this case is thought to be hypertensive (patient SBP was 190 mmHg at time of presentation). Subsequent CTA COW (not shown) did not reveal an underlying vascular malformation.
