Presentation

Three-day history of dizziness and right-hand weakness.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
ct

Moderate size acute hemorrhage centrally in the pons.  No mass effect. No intraventricular hemorrhage. No hydrocephalus.

Case Discussion

Typical appearances of a hypertensive pontine hemorrhage.  The mechanism is similar to those in the basal ganglia due to hemorrhage from the perforator vessels.
