Presentation

Left hemiparesis.

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
CT

Hypodensity in the right side of pons, not crossing the midline.

Case Discussion

Pontine infarcts are one form of brainstem infarction.  Infarcts in the pons are typically focal in nature.

The pons if often poorly visualized on CT, but is eloquently observed on MRI, as there is no beam-hardening arifact from the petrous temporal bone.
