Portal and superior mesenteric vein aneurysms

Presentation

Incidental finding on thoracic CT for other reason.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
  • aneurysm of the main portal vein (max 3.3 cm) with slight compression of the head of the pancreas. There is no significant compression of the main bile duct.
  • additional aneurysm of the proximal superior mesenteric vein (2.3 cm) with possible compression of the duodenum.
  • note: Chilaiditi syndrome, kidney stone on the left

Case Discussion

Patient has no abdominal symptoms. No signs of portal hypertension / liver pathology.
