The filling defect within the portal vein infers thrombosis, causing hepatic parenchymal inhomogeneous enhancement.

Case Discussion

Portal vein thrombosis is a major cause of non-cirrhotic presinusoidal portal hypertension. Clinical presentation is often non-specific, and in the acute extensive phase, the presentation is likely to be with acute ischemic bowel.
