Post-partum cardiomyopathy

Presentation

Shortness of breath on exertion. One week post partum.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Cardiac silhouette is enlarged. No pulmonary edema or pleural effusion. No focal consolidation. 

Case Discussion

This patient went to echocardiography, which demonstrated a dilated cardiomyopathy with mild/moderate global systolic dysfunction. Follow-up echocardiography a few months later showed return to normal systolic function.
