Post splenic artery glue embolization material (chest x-ray)

Presentation

Epigastric pain five days post angiography ?free gas.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Left basal consolidation and pleural effusion. Right lung and pleural space are clear. Increased cardiothoracic ratio may be due to under inspiration. No subdiaphragmatic free gas. Splenic embolization material evident in the left upper quadrant.    

Case Discussion

In this case, 20% histoacryl glue was used as the agent for splenic artery embolization.

Minor complications, such as pleural effusions as in this case, have been reported in approximately 50% of patients in one series.
