Post-traumatic pseudocyst of the pancreas (abdominal radiograph)

Blunt abdominal trauma 1 month ago.

Patient Data

Age: child
Gender: Male

Notice the increased distance between stomach and transverse colon which means that the lesser sac is filled with material.

Same child after drainage of the pseudo-cyst.

Case Discussion

Pancreatic pseudocysts are common sequela of acute pancreatitis, and the most common of cystic lesion of the pancreas. Pseudocysts are fluid filled oval or round collection with a relatively thick wall. They can be multiple and are most commonly located in the pancreatic bed.
