Posterior cruciate ligament rupture

Presentation

Direct impact onto knee from 1.5 metres high.

Patient Data

Age: 12 years
Gender: Male

Full-thickness rupture of the distal posterior cruciate ligament. No other ligamentous or meniscal injury. Moderate knee joint effusion and ruptured Baker's cyst. 

Case Discussion

Isolated posterior cruciate ligament ruptures are uncommon, especially in the pediatric population.
