Posterior cruciate ligament tear

History of MVA, left knee hit by car. Complain of left knee pain and instability since then. Unable to full weight bear due to pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Left knee

The posterior portion of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) fiber appear hyperintense and reduce in thickness compared to the anterior portion.

The lateral collateral ligament is bulky. Minimal joint effusion. Baker cyst also present.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus are normal.

Case Discussion

Posterior cruciate ligament tear is less common compared to anterior cruciate ligament tear. In this case, this patient has a history of a motor vehicle accident.
