Posterior parahepatic cyst

Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male

CT abdomen & pelvis

CT of the abdomen and pelvis demonstrates the isolated cyst near the posterior segment of the right hepatic lobe.

Also, there is chronic aortic dissection involving the descending aorta from the aortic isthmus till the level of renal arteries origin.

Left renal stone noted.

Case Discussion

First of all you need to differentiate this cystic structure with peritoneal carcinomatosis. But absence of oncology anamnesis, singularity of this finding, absence of contrast enhancement allow to go away from this diagnosis.

It is typical posterior parahepatic cyst, a completely benign incidental cystic lesion.
