Posterior rectus sheath hernia

Right sided anterior abdominal wall swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 66 years
Gender: Female

Splitting of the posterior sheath of right sided rectus abdominis muscle and omental herniation through a defect within the sheath. Incidental note of retroaortic left renal vein and right adrenal nodule.

Case Discussion

Posterior rectus sheath hernias are a rare type of parietal herniation, where the hernia lies between the layers of the anterior abdominal wall.
