Differential diagnoses:
- acute cerebral hyperaemia
- posterior circulation stroke
- metabolic derangements, including hypoglycaemia
- progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML)
Clinical presentation
- headaches, seizures, altered mental status
- elevated blood pressure is not a constant finding, especially in children
