Posterior urethral stricture (post radiation and TURP)

History of prostate cancer post radiation therapy. Urinary urgency, frequency, and incontinence.

Patient Data

Age: 75-80Y
Gender: Male

Retrograde urethrogram (RUG) and voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG)


Scout radiograph:

  • multiple phleboliths in the pelvis

Retrograde urethrogram (RUG):

  • there is a narrowing in the urethra downstream from the expected location of the external sphincter
  • no filling defect or leak in the anterior urethra

Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG):

  • large defect in the prostatic urethra, compatible with a TURP defect
  • there is a 12 mm fixed narrowing in the posterior urethra at the prostatic urethra and membranous urethra
  • a round radiopaque object is a radiopaque pill external to the patient that is used for measuring
