Presentation

Failure to thrive, abnormal stream of urination.

Patient Data

Gender: Male

Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG): Linear radiolucency at posterior urethra with proximal urethral dilatation,urinary bladder neck hypertrophy, urinary bladder trabeculation and diverticula formation and bilateral high grade vesicoureteral reflux (VUR):

Posterior urethral valve is a common cause of obstructive uropathy in infants. Severe cases are usually diagnosed with antenatal ultrasonographyVoiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is the modality of choice for the diagnosis of posterior urethral valves postnatally, however ultrasonography can also diagnose this entity.
