Presentation

G3P2 at 35 weeks gestation, hydronephrosis on the previous ultrasound. For follow-up.

Patient Data

Age: 35 weeks gestation
Gender: Female
ultrasound

The ultrasound images demonstrate:

  • enlarged kidneys with hydronephrosis
  • dilated and tortuous ureters
  • distended bladder and posterior urethra
  • oligohydramnios

Case Discussion

Ultrasound features of marked hydronephrosis with hydroureters, distended bladder and posterior urethra with oligohydramnios in a male fetus are most consistent with posterior urethral valves.
