Posterolateral corner injury

Football player, direct trauma to the outside of the knee. History of partial resection lateral meniscus.

Patient Data

Age: 20
Gender: Male

Injury to the posterolateral ligamentous complex:

  • arcuate ligament
  • fibulopopliteal ligament
  • anterior extension of biceps femoris tendon

Popliteus tendon and lateral collateral ligament are intact.

Bone marrow oedema in the posterior aspect of tibia and fibula at the proximal tibiofibular joint

Apart from postoperative status (partial lateral meniscectomy) no abnormalities of menisci, cruciate ligaments, medial collateral ligament and cartilage.
