Posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder - lung

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

One year and a half post lung transplant. Left-sided chest pain. Not septic.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

Chest radiographs

x-ray

Known deformity of the ribs in the right hemithorax again noted. There is obscuration of the right costophrenic recess. There is a relatively rounded ~3 cm mass opacity in the posterior segment of the left lower lobe. 

PET-CT (18F-FDG)

Nuclear medicine

Marked increased FDG uptake within the left lower lobe circumscribed mass. 

Case Discussion

The patient underwent lung biopsy which confirmed the mass to represent posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder.
