Presentation

Precocious puberty, premature pubarche and acne. Evaluate for bone age advancement.

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

The standard deviation for the patient's age is 10.5 months. 2 standard deviations equal 21 months.

Comparing with known male standards, the bone age is between 15 to 16 years. All the growth plates of the phalanges are fused. The growth plates of the distal radius and ulna are patent.

The bone age is much beyond 2 standard deviations of the chronological age, and hence much advanced.

The bone density is normal. No discrete osseous anomaly.
