Presentation
Anterolateral knee pain, suspected lateral meniscus tear.
Patient Data

Irregularity and significant oedema are seen in prefemoral fat pad laterally with fluid in suprapatellar recess.
Oedema is seen in Hoffa’s fat pad along the infrapatellar plica, possibly
Infrapatellar plica injury.
Oedema/mild fluid is seen between the iliotibial band and lateral femoral condyle. Suggested clinical correlation for iliotibial band friction syndrome.
Linear hyperintensity is seen in the posterior horn medial meniscus not intersecting with articular margins (grade 2 signal).
Lateral meniscus is unremarkable. No obvious discoid appearance is seen.
Case Discussion
Irregularity and significant oedema in prefemoral fat pad laterally with fluid in suprapatellar recess are consistent with prefemoral fat pad impingement and this is the likely cause of pain.
