Pregnancy on plain radiograph (incidental)

Presentation

Presented to orthopedic outpatients with her mother, complaining of lumbar back pain.

Patient Data

Age: 16 years
Gender: Female

Young female patient in the 3rd trimester shown on the antero-posterior lumbosacral plain radiograph. The fetus can be seen in breech presentation( presenatio pelvica). Fetal skull, spine and limbs can be differentiated.

Case Discussion

Patient and mother did not know about the pregnancy. X-ray examination was terminated after first exposure, when the pregnancy was noticed. Two months later she gave birth to a healthy child.
