Prepatellar bursitis

An effusion is present in the prepatellar bursa, with some synovial proliferation of its walls. Subcutaneous tissue edema of the anterior knee is also visible.
No other abnormalities within the joint structures.

An example of prepatellar bursitis. Most of the cases are non-infectious in nature, caused by chronic friction due to repetitive kneeling.
