Presentation

Shoulder pain post fall.

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Female

Comminuted three-part fracture of the proximal humerus involving the surgical neck, and greater and lesser tuberosities with moderate impaction. Incidental localized cortical thickening of the lateral humeral midshaft at the insertion site of the deltoid muscle.

Case Discussion

Prominent deltoid muscle insertions often resembles periostitis and may be mistaken for a lesion.
