Presentation

Wrist pain post motor vehicle accident

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

Bowing of the pronator quadratus fat pad. Subtle undisplaced distal radius fracture with no definite evidence of intra-articular extension. Carpal bones have a normal appearance.

Case Discussion

A nice sign to see when present, but due to poor sensitivity, the absence of the pronator fat pad sign does not exclude a distal radial fracture.
