Case contributed by Ian Bickle

Known prostate carcinoma on treatment. Rising PSA levels.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male

Extensive intense tracer uptake at multiple sites involving both the axial and appendicular skeleton.

Retained contrast in the kidneys, more so on the right, indicating an element of urinary obstruction.

Case Discussion

The vast majority of radioisotope bone scans are performed for breast and prostate malignancies.

In the case of prostate cancer, the study may also indicate extra-capsular spread causing urinary tract obstruction.
