Presentation
Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and a history of prostate cancer.
Patient Data
There are multiple and significantly enlarged lymph nodes in para-aortic and left side external iliac and inguinal stations; these are more compatible with metastatic lymph nodes considering the size of the lymph nodes and a history of prostate cancer of the patient. Fatty left sided inguinal hernia is also seen. No contrast agent was injected because of patient intolerance.
Case Discussion
The incidence of metastatic iliac and para-aortic lymph nodes in prostate cancer is low and considered stage M1a disease and affects the recurrence-free survival rate of the patients. MRI and CT scans have low sensitivity and specificity for diagnosis and the first choice imaging modality is molecular imaging for early diagnosis. In this particular case because of patient intolerance, no contrast agent was injected.
