Prostatic abscess

Acute urinary retention. Foley's catheter in situ.

Patient Data

Age: 48 years
Gender: Male

Transabdominal USG shows Foley's catheter in situ in urinary bladder. Prostate shows enlargement and distorted shape.

Transrectal USG shows collection with mobile echoes involving mainly right lobe of prostate along with peri-urethral extension.  There is no rupture of abscess.

Case Discussion

Findings suggest prostate abscess with aspiration revealing pus.
