Prostatic abscess (MRI)

Presentation

No pertinent past medical history with lower urinary tract system. PSA: 153 ng/ml. Prostate is hard on rectal examination.

Patient Data

Age: 53
Gender: Male
MRI

MR reveals irregular cystic area on the left side posterior to the prostatic urethra. Diffusion imaging reveals restricted diffusion in the area.

MRS reveals a high choline to citrate ratio.

Case Discussion

A diagnosis of prostatic abscess was made; the abscess was drained under transrectal ultrasound guidance.

Culture: Klebsiella species

Patient treated with antiobiotics.

Final diagnosis: Proastatic abscess
