Prostatic adenocarcinoma with metastases

Presentation

Prostatic adenocarcinoma, sigmoid colostomy.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

Irregular, heterogeneously enhancing mass in prostate, measuring  68 x 55 mm, infiltrating the rectum with multiple enlarged peri-rectal nodes, largest measuring 26 x 22 mm.

Metastases :

  • multiple hypodense lesions in both hepatic lobes, largest measuring 35 x 30 mm

  • multiple sclerotic lesions in D8 vertebra and right iliac bone

  • multiple nodules in both lung fields, largest measuring 8mm

Case Discussion

This is a  biopsy proven case of prostatic adenocarcinoma with extensive metastases (local and distant).

Prostatic carcinoma ranks as the commonest malignant tumor in men and the second commonest cause of cancer related deaths in men. Prostatic adenocarcinoma is by far the commonest histological type.
