Presentation

The patient had a trauma of the right thumb 4 days back, on examination: localized swelling and tenderness are noted in the IP joint area.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

X-ray shows proximal phalanx head fracture of the right thumb finger.

Suspected distal phalanx base fracture. 

Case Discussion

Note the fractures are seen only on the frontal view.

At least two views should be taken to make the right diagnosis.

There is an intra-articular extension of the fracture.
