Motorcycle accident. Obvious deformity of the left ring finger upon physical examination.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Proximal phalanx fracture of the 4th finger with dorsal displacement and nearly 90º of angulation. 

Case Discussion

Proximal phalanx fractures result from torsional or angular forces combined with axial loadings, such as when catching a ball.

In the present case, the injury was caused by a direct collision with the handlebars of the motorcycle.
