Fracture of the proximal phalanx of the fourth and fifth fingers. The 5th is non-displaced and seems stable but the 4th is unstable and has a displacement that requires surgery.
Case Discussion
Treatment can be conservative in case of a non-displaced fracture, but the method of immobilization may vary between orthopedic surgeons. Surgery is required in case of an open fracture, significant displacement, and instability after reduction.
