Proximal rectus femoris tendon tear

The tear of the proximal (conjoined) tendon of the right rectus femoris just distal to its origin with a fluid-filled gap is associated with distal retraction of the tendon and muscle belly.
The rectus muscle shows edema and hemorrhagic signal.
Case Discussion
The rectus femoris has two separate origins, the straight head originates from the anterior inferior iliac spine and indirect or reflected head from the superior acetabular ridge and the posterolateral aspect of the hip joint capsule. The two heads form a conjoined tendon.
The rectus femoris is the most commonly injured muscle of the quadriceps muscle group.
