Presentation

Knee joint trauma and consequent pain, soft tissue swelling, and limitation of movement of the knee joint.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Female

Irregular margin oblique fracture line through the full thickness of the epiphysis of middle to the lateral side of the medial tibial plateau extended within the articular surface and also extended within epiphyseal plate is seen. Soft tissue swelling and fluid in the joint are also seen.
 

Case Discussion

The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of the Salter-Harris type III fracture of the knee joint. Fractures within the joints before the closure of the epiphyseal plates are usually classified based on the Salter-Harris classification.
