Pseudocyst of humerus

Case contributed by Dr Mohammad Taghi Niknejad

Right shoulder pain.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Increased lucency in the region of the greater trochanter of humerus mimicking a lytic lesion.

Case Discussion

Pseudocyst of the humerus is a normal anatomical variant due to increased cancellous bone in the region of the greater tuberosity of the humerus which is seen as a lucent lesion on radiography. It should not be mistaken for a lytic lesion.
