X-rays demonstrate a symmetric erosive arthropathy involving predominantly the distal joints of the hands and feet.

There are occasional pencil-in-cup deformities and ankylosis of multiple joints.  In the feet, erosions with subluxation involve the 2nd to 5th MTP joints bilaterally.
