Cough and expectoration with abnormal chest radiograph

Patient Data

Age: 33 years old
Gender: Male

Sand like extensive calcification of pulmonary parenchyma with relative sparing of the subpleural area forming black pleura sign.

Case Discussion

Chest radiograph and CT findings are conclusive of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis which is genetic mutation that results in deposition of calcium within the alveoli.
