Dyspnea and fever.
Patient Data
CT scan shows bilateral right and left main pulmonary artery saccular aneurysms with mural calcified atherosclerotic plaques.
The otherwise findings include lungs and airways are normal. Heart size is normal. The mediastinum structures including the aorta and main pulmonary trunk have a normal configuration. No pleural effusion or thickening. No pericardial effusion. The chest wall is unremarkable.
Case Discussion
Aneurysm of the right and left main pulmonary artery was an incidental finding in a young male patient who referred for a chest CT scan with suspicion of pneumonia.
The differential for etiologies of pulmonary artery aneurysms can be broad including infectious, vascular, traumatic, autoimmune, congenital, and idiopathic.
