Presentation
Hemoptysis.
Patient Data
A well defined enhancing mass lesion measuring 1.3x2.5x3 cm along its maximum axial and CC dimensions respectively in the right posterior pleural recess. This is supplied by a dilated subsegmental artery from the posterior basal segmental of the right lower lobe pulmonary artery and drained by a dilated subsegmental vein of the right inferior pulmonary vein.
Case Discussion
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal communication between the artery and vein without intervening capillary beds. They can be classified as simple, complex or diffuse. These are often unilateral. Although they can potentially affect any part of the lung, there is a recognized predilection towards the lower lobes (50-70%).
