Pulmonary cannonball metastases

Presentation

Breathlessness.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Right IJ chest port with tube tip in the SVC. Numerous pulmonary masses and nodules throughout both lungs. Prominent hila in keeping with nodal metastases. No focal consolidation, lobar collapse or pleural effusion. Normal cardiomediastinal contour. No focal osseous lesion.

Case Discussion

When numerous round and large metastases are present, the term cannonball metastases can be used. This patient had a history of prostate cancer.
