Pulmonary cryptococcosis

Patient with long-standing dyspnea, cough and fatigue.

Patient Data

Age: 46
Gender: Female

Single RUL nodule with cavitation, on background of widespread bilateral ground-glass opacity and consolidation.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent inconclusive for the presence of fungus bronchoscopy. Subsequently, the patient underwent thoracotomy and biopsy showed only budding yeast suggesting Cryptococcus neoformans. There were no malignant cells. Regression of lesions occurred after five months of antifungal treatment.
