Presentation

Presents to ED with 3 days evolution of cough, dyspnea and lower extremity edema.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Cardiomegaly, pacemaker, increased central and lower zone opacity obscuring pulmonary vessels, right pleural effusion and septal (Kerley B) lines.

8 hours after diuretics

x-ray

Complete clearing of the lungs and pleural cavity.

Case Discussion

This is a typical case of pulmonary edema with resolution after treatment.

Septal (Kerley B) lines are a helpful clue to the diagnosis.
