Increasing shortness of breath and mild fevers over past three weeks. Tachycardia and hypotension.

The right ventricle is grossly distended (right ventricular cavity larger than left). Bilateral large pulmonary emboli.
Peripheral wedge-shaped opacities in the right middle lobe and left lower lobe in keeping with infarcts.
Case Discussion
Pulmonary infarct will appear as wedge-shaped peripheral consolidation. Consolidation occurs secondary to hemorrhage due to the lung's dual blood supply from the pulmonary and bronchial arteries.
