Pulmonary embolism with lung infarction

70 year old female with sudden onset chest pain, dyspnea and elevated levels of D-Dimer.

Case Discussion

The chest X-ray demonstrates a Hampton hump on the right. The CT scan demonstrates filling defects in the pulmonary arteries with a triangular shaped peripheral opacity of lung the parenchyma in the right middle lobe as a result of lung infarction secondary to pulmonary embolism.
