Pulmonary embolus and infarct

Acute onset severe right lower chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Occlusive thrombus in the right lower lobe lateral segmental pulmonary artery extending into the subsegmental arteries. Small area of wedge-shaped peripheral consolidation anterolaterally in the right lower lobe.

Pulmonary infarct is a relatively uncommon complication of pulmonary embolus
