Pulmonary fibrosis - NSIP pattern

Presentation

Increasing shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

There are changes of ground glass opacification in both lung bases. There is associated early changes of traction bronchiectasis. The esophagus is dilated. The appearances are those of NSIP.

Case Discussion

The lung changes are those of early NSIP. The dilated esophagus is a clue that the cause is an underlying connective tissue disease. This patient had an established diagnosis of systemic sclerosis.
