Pulmonary manifestations of scleroderma

Presentation

A known case of scleroderma presented with a mild restriction pattern in respiratory function tests. HRCT in a prone position was performed for evaluation of the lung parenchyma.

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

There are peripheral ground glass opacities with a dilated esophagus.

There is also a ring artifact in this scan likely caused by the calibration failure of one or more detectors.

Case Discussion

The findings are compatible with pulmonary involvement with scleroderma, which appears in a non-specific interstitial pneumonitis (NSIP) pattern.
