Case Discussion

This plain radiograph is a perfect illustration of the elegantly French-described appearance of widespread lung metastases: the flight of ballons (envolée de ballons). In English, it is less elegantly and more aggressively termed cannonball metastases.

A subsequent renal cell carcinoma primary was identified. The malignancy is most, but not exclusively, associated with this appearance.
